Aitutaki Map
So how does one get to Aitutaki? International flights arrive from New
Zealand, Australia, Los Angeles USA and Tahiti. The main airlines are Air New
Zealand and Pacific Blue (Virgin's Pacific carrier). Flights also come in from
Nadi Fiji on Air Pacific's regional aircraft.
The International Airport
is on the Cook Islands' main island of Rarotonga. From there, one flies in a
northerly direction for about 160 miles, via an Air Rarotonga flight, taking
about 40 minutes in a Saab 340 aircraft. The plane descends to the runway on the
northern tip of Aitutaki Island and you will feel you are arriving in
paradise.
The map shows the Aitutaki Lagoon, main island of Aitutaki and the
many small islands ('islets') known as Motu.
